Examination Accomodations (RACE)

These assessments are carried out to provide the evidence necessary to indicate whether disabled students are eligible to get reasonable accommodations in Certificate examinations and to specify the nature of accommodations that would be needed.

The student will be individually assessed. The nature of the assessment and the assessment instruments used will depend on the type of disability and the accommodation sought. The accommodations recommended and their implications will be discussed with the student. All recommendations will be in strict accordance with the Department of Education and Science criteria and will allow the student to demonstrate his or her knowledge without conferring any advantage.

Report

The student, school and parents will receive a report indicating the nature of any accommodations that the student may need in order to sit the appropriate Certificate examination and the reasons for the recommendations.

Benefits

  • The school will have the evidence needed to apply for accommodations.
  • The school will be able to ensure that the child is familiar with the accommodations.
  • The student will understand the implications of receiving accommodations
