Certificate of Competence in
Educational Testing (CCET) - Level A
Éirim is pleased to announce that it has teamed up with Real Training (UK) to offer individuals a course leading to the Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing (Level A).
Accredited and verified by the British Psychological Society, this Certificate qualification is rapidly becoming the "industry standard" for providing competence and confidence using educational psychometric tests. The qualification is internationally recognised.
The Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing (Level A) is particularly suited to teachers, SNA's, SENO's, SENCO's, guidance counsellors, or anyone working within the educational setting administering or interpreting psychometric or educational tests.
The course is made up of seven units which are designed to cover the 71 core competencies (determined by the British Psychological Society), which are required for professionals to safely administer and interpret psychometric tests within an educational context. They are:

Why are tests used? What are psychometric tests? Different types of tests and testing Formative and summative assessment |
| Unit 2: Basic statistical principles |
Averages and standard error Confidence in the scores obtained Using statistical tables and converting raw scores to standard scores |
| Unit 3: Reliability and validity |
Correlation as an estimate of relationship between two measures Does the test measure what it says it measures? Does it measure it accurately? |
| Unit 4: Using the right test |
Using catalogues and practical considerations when using tests Using norms and identifying restrictions and bias |
| Unit 5: Test administration |
Test practice Planning and preparation Establishing rapport |
| Unit 6: Test results |
Scoring and interpretation of results Integration of test data with other assessment information |
| Unit 7: Confidentiality |
Maintaining security Use of results Data protection, rights and responsibilities |
The course also contains practical elements one of which requires students to video themselves competently administering a test to a client. A number of other psycho-educational tests are administered, scored, interpreted and submitted as part of a final portfolio of work.
